Music as an art with MJ Nelson

Music is considered as an art by all of the musicians for a lot of reason. First is that the composition of the song itself is an art. This is because writing songs is like writing poetry and playing with words but it is more than that since you are putting your heart and your soul into what you are writing. Another reason why most artists think it’s an art because the melody and the harmony of the song should be in perfect balance. Both of these reasons have been comprehended and have been perfected by the renowned musician, MJ Nelson. He can be considered a true artist in terms of the music that he writes as well as sings. This man has accumulated years and years of experience in terms of every aspect of singing whether it is performing, writing, and even directing a show.

Even though he is already considered a great artist in music, he took it up another notch and really went into the literal term for art. He started doing paintings which were amazing to behold and he even had his one-man show which was in Santa Monica in 1988. His paintings are currently being sold up for auction and many of his fans are dying to get their hands on his paintings. He is truly and artist of the highest caliber and there are only a handful of people who can reach this high. He was also a true visionary and knew what his audiences liked and needed and he can give it to them with tremendous accuracy.

MJ Nelson took the time to hone his talents before he recorded his first CD MJ Nelson is one multi talented artist who had been one of those millions of hopeful musicians. He moved out of his hometown to follow his dream in New York where he sat in with a band and played as a drummer. This is how he was discovered by various people in the music industry. He started living as a drummer but a time came when he had to let go of his drum sets in order to pay for his taxes. But this did not put an end to his dreams. Instead of giving up, he actually took the motivation to do more.

Aside from becoming a good drummer, he learned to play the guitar, harmonica and bagpipes. Soon he began to compose his own music.

Drum Playing Essentials

Drums can be fun to learn. No band can be complete without a set of drums. It gives more beat and energy to the music and gives the drum player a sense of euphoria that you can only get with a good beating using your drumsticks.

My musical career started out with drums. I have gotten gigs and started working with other artists through my drum playing before I was able to work on my own and record my own songs and music. And until now, I still enjoy banging around with my drumsticks.

If you want to learn to drum more efficiently and effectively, you should be aware of two things in your drum playing: first is technique and the other is the heights of your stick.

The technique refers to the way you hold your drumsticks as you play a pattern of beats and music that is suitable for a particular drumming exercise. You can use the traditional grip or the match grip depending on which one you prefer. The important thing is that you are comfortable. If you are new to drumming I recommend that you use the match grip. In this grip it is like how you hold the handle bars of bikes only with a few adjustments in regards to your thumbs and angle. This type is usually used by rock band drummers, and concert percussionists. The technical grip is more on technicalities that will help improve your speed, endurance, finger and hand agility, accuracy and overall aesthetics.

The other important feature that you should be aware of is the height of your sticks. You will find that there are two types of stick heights: taps and accents. Accents are thought to be played vertically and taps are used for low notes usually used for marching bands. The benefits of using the right stick heights are that you do not only make good music but you also look good making it.

As long as you master your stick heights and your technique, your drum playing will definitely improve and you can rock on and play with the best bands like I did. It can be a great stepping stone for you to get in the music industry.
